Air Conditioning

We have also obtained the rights to dealing exclusively with Harrack in the Cape area.  For the last few years, Harracks has carried out installations and reparis on large earthmoving, mining and construction vehicles, which require specialised and sometimes unique air conditioning systems.  They are currently performing design and fitment on numerous mines and have grown an elite reputation in the eartmoving and mining fields.

An Air Conditioner has a High Side and Low Side.  This is true of all air conditioner systems, and the division of these two "Sides" always occurs at the same point.

High Side simply refers to the side of the system in which high pressure exists.  The high side is from the outlet side of the compresser, through the condense through the receiver drier and to the expansion valve.

It is the compressor's job to create the high pressure (higher temperature) so the refridgerant will be able to condense and release heat at the condenser.  A pressure differential is created at the expansion valve or orifice tube - the diving point of the system.

Low Side is the term used for the portion of the air conditioning system in which low pressure and temperature exists.  From the expansion valve, through the evaporator and accumulator to the inside of the compressor, the refridgerant is in a low-pressure state.  This allows heat to be transferred inside the car to the "colder" refridgerant, which then carries it away.
